    The cost for this months meeting is: $15 with meal, $7.50 meeting only.

    This month we are going to tour JD Machine in their new facility in North Ogden. “JDPS”is the JD Production System which is a comprehensive production system based on employee involvement, lean manufacturing principles, reporting and accountability and continuous improvement. Their Lean journey started back in 1999 and now they are actively pursuing the Shingo Prize for Excellence. To be awarded the Shingo Prize for Excellence you must reduce quality defect levels by 50% or more each year, increase productivity by a similar amount and demonstrate how these metrics positively impact your profitability. In this tour you can expect an extraordinary view of what quality and continuous improvement looks like in a small organization.

    Even though “clean and organized” is not what we usually associate with a machine shop JD Machine will surprise you when you see the result of focusing on waste elimination. JD Machine is a professional machine shop that uses workplace organization as a foundational tool to implement a world class quality system. The Golden Spike section regularly tours some very progressive shops that use the Lean Philosophy to create a world class organization. This is the first time we have toured JD Machine but you can expect this tour will be in high demand in the future. You won’t want to miss this one.

     JD Machine is registered to the ISO9001 and AS9100 quality systems and has experienced significant growth receiving “Utah’s Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies” award for three consecutive years and “Small Business Subcontractor of the Year Award”.
