In his landmark book “Zero Quality Control and the Poke Yoke systemâ€, Dr. Shigeo Shingo describes how he revolutionized quality at Toyota. Even though Dr. Shingo was a consultant to Toyota his influence on the Toyota Production System (called “Lean†in the book “The Machine that Changed the Worldâ€) is part of the legend of the history of Lean.
Â
In this one hour workshop Paul will take you through the steps Dr. Shingo went through to develop the Zero Quality Control principles. During the session while working through the principles of ZQC we will discuss source inspection, sampling methods and the Poke Yoke concept. Using many specific examples Paul will describe how using 100% inspection at the source using Poke Yoke devices will eliminate the defects caused by the errors your people will inevitably make. Yes zero defects is an attainable goal…
Â
As part of the workshop you will create a Poke Yoke device as an in-class exercise. Your assignment after the workshop will be to go back to your organization and develop/implement a mistake-proofing device at the source.
Â
Come join us for a look back at one of the most important concepts ever developed in the field of quality.
